Brutality! No More Friendship!!

Finally!! Why does it always take a remake to clean up Paul W. S. Anderson shit films? Seriously - why does Hollywood put up with his half-assed film projects? Watching his films… makes me want to puke my brain out through my nose. If anything, I feel as if he’s not doing it for the art, but rather for the check… which is probably why 90% of his work SucK with a captial “K”…

When the first Mortal Kombat film came out during the mid 90s, I was excited. In fact I remember going specifically to the 9pm showing at the mall on a Wednesday night. Surprisingly that night, there was not a lot of movie-goers except for the theater I was in. It was about 40 people or so… ironically, those 40 people, including myself were practitioners of the martial arts. Evidently it was reconfirmed when one of the guys that I knew walked in and said ~ “What’s this? A martial arts convention?” - Sure enough the room laughed.

More importantly the movie made us laughed… cause well, it was ho-key and didn’t follow the game storyline too well. The production of the film was much different than what I had expected. Lets face it, i didn’t see the cool shit that I wanted to see in the game translated onto the screen. Till this day, I will blame the lack of creativity of Paul W. S. Anderson for selling out and going for PG-13 rating… Lets face it, the game itself WAS NEVER a PG game!

Now fast forward almost 15 years later… yes, MK was released in 1995. Hard to believe it huh? Well, a few days ago, I discovered this on the internet…

SON OF A BITCH!! Now this is what the movie should have been all along. But noooooooooooooo….

Anywho, turns out this short film was shot as a “pitch” or “proof of concept” for the studios. The entire production and cast - surprisingly did it all for free. - WAY TO GO!!!!

The best part…

MICHAEL JAI WHITE!!! Hell Yeah…!!! - He’s the bad mofo that should have been in the original. JERI RYAN was much more believable as SONY BLADE. Yes, I’m was all giddy when I saw the trailer.

Lets hope the film gets greenlight for an R-Rating…
