Record your shit. The more of your act and material you can get on either video or in an audio format, the better. If I hear that someone is doing one of my original bits, almost to the letter, and if I know that it’s on my comedy cd from 3 years ago then I’m not that worried. I have proof that I wrote the bit first.

You’re going to suck…

You can bring an audience back from the dead. And I mean dead. A lot of solid, solid comics went on before you and none of them could break them open and you did.

So, what do I really think of 2009? I definitely think it’s better than 2008. Not a great improvement, but better.

Your act is NOT enough. Learn to Dance: If you think you can just walk into an audience warm-up gig and do your act, think again. These folks are from WAY out of town. A LOT of the time they will have kids with them. So, your stuff needs to be family friendly.

How to be funny…

Sometimes comedy is REALLY a job. You have to go do a gig and your really did just bury your grandmother, but you need the money.

That is way uncool of him to be recording people’s performances without asking. Someone told me that he don’t think it will kill my career if he did either. Well, I had to respond by saying first, it’s the principle behind the recording without my permission.

Year Five Going on 10…

I still remember the first day I took stage on that open mic night. It was frighten and pure insanity. I wasn’t sure if I would be ok with the idea of yapping a bunch of written materials that I had jotted down earlier that day while working… or the fact that the stage fright would give me a heart attack… That was June 5, 2005.
